WEST Dunbartonshire Libraries have several events with a historical theme at their annual Booked Festival from Monday May 12 until Saturday May 31.

Alastair Moffat will be exploring the genetic history of Scotland and how an understanding of this can throw new light on the history of the nation, and Andrew Ferguson will be discussing the Scottish Enlightenment and its legacy.

Two events deal with the First World War – one that looks at it from a global perspective, delivered by Sir Hew Strachan, and the other will explore the 51st Highland Division which has local links.

Further information can be found at www.bookedfestival.info or at any West Dunbartonshire library. All tickets are free and can be booked at any branch.
