WH-Paton-Morelaggan-wAN 1875 Loch Longside painting will be on show and on sale at a Glasgow gallery's latest exhibition from April 27 to May 23.

It shows Upper Morelaggan near Arrochar, the scene in recent years of major excavations of a rural settlement which dates back to 1501.

The artist was Dunfermline-born Waller Hugh Paton, who has been described as the leading exponent of the Pre-Raphaelite landscape in Scotland and who exhibited views — mostly painted on Arran — at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1854.

The watercolour, which is signed and dated, is 4 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches, and is on offer at Ewan Mundy Fine Art at £1,800 in an exhibition entitled Arran the Firth of Clyde the Hebrides and beyond.

All the paintings for sale at the 211 West George Street gallery can be viewed online at www.mundyfineart.com.
